If it is such a good idea and more convenient, why cant everybody apply for one? You probably know people who have arranged a really good mortgage and did not even have to show the lender any proof of their income, but also know people who have been asked for pay slips and a P60. This is not because the lender is being less helpful, it is because self certification mortgages are designed to help people in different circumstances, often when proving income is not convenient or simple.
